So maybe I use the word “love” too much when “like”, “appreciate”, “enjoy” might be better choices.  But, when it comes to books, it’s not an exaggeration when I say that:  “I love to read”.   I also love to write and can’t think of a better place than this blog to build that muscle.  While I’m not certain exactly how this blog will evolve I know that it will.  I can tell you that it will probably cover a lot of this and that.  It’s always about what inspires me in the moment. As much as I love reading, this blog will likely produce a cornucopia of content that reflect my diverse interests and moods.  Of course books live high on the list of those interests but don’t expect a traditional “book blog”.

My blog is a place to come and just be.  It doesn’t have a time or date stamp like so many of our daily responsibilities do.  I come here to see what will happen if I just take a deep breath and go with it.  I’m in good place, with no restrictions or rules. (well, maybe just a couple) 🙂   I refuse to feel pressured or in a race to be what others may expect, hope or desire for me and this blog.  The canvas is blank and full of possibilities.  It doesn’t get better than that, in my humble opinion.

For me, blogging is about learning, growing and sharing.  How fortunate we all are to be alive now in this technological universe that gives us the ability to communicate with a few, hundreds, thousands or perhaps even millions of people we likely will never meet in person but with whom we can learn and share so much.  I feel so fortunate to be one of those people.

  2. I recently realized how grateful I should be for the opportunity to reach people, debate, compare, share, joke, understand, laugh with them while never even being in the same room as them. Blogging is a joy. And this from someone who, a year ago, would have spluttered indignantly at the very suggestion of it. Now I firmly believe that if Charles Dickens was alive today, he’d be a blogger. He was just that kind of dude. Write on!

    • I agree and have often thought the same about past great writers/authors. It might be a good thing they didn’t have access to this technology. Other writer/bloggers have admitted to the difficulty of balancing the time spent blogging with time spent on their writing. Blogging can become a distraction if we let it. Personally, I don’t worry about it but I know it is a concern to some. Clearly, you are not one of them either! 🙂

      • Oh, I have been conflicted also. It does take away from my writing time and when I get frustrated, I have to remind myself that I need to be grateful for every opportunity to get my writing out there. I try to think of the posts as little magazine articles which is how traditionally writers might have got their written word out there. But there is a push/pull situation with me too. I’m not immune to it 🙂

      • I hear you and I agree with your conclusion. Writing is still writing no matter where it lands. I was just visiting your terrific blog and noted that your book was not deliberately composed but came together much later from journal entries. I love that! It proves the point, I think, that writing is writing…let it flow and watch where it takes you.

  5. Truly inspiring! It’s the same with me, I cannot stay on one topic. I’ve started with history, but couldn’t help writing about some life experiences, and then I discovered a new passion for art. So blogging is not like a job, with a tiring schedule and everything, but it’s a journey to get to know ourselves better! I love discovering who I am and share it with other passionate people around the world! Looking forward to reading your posts!

      • No worries BP — just pay it forward when you are able. One of the reasons I am hesitant to nominate people is because I hate for anyone to feel pressured. So please don’t feel pressured.

        I’ve got some blog catching up to do, that is to say, reading and your blog is on my list… The more blogs I follow, the harder it is for me to keep up. I try to catch up first thing in the morning when I arrive at work, but you know how that goes…

      • No pressure felt at all, just me managing my priorities. I’m having the same challenge as you with keeping up with the blogs I follow. With the holidays fast approaching and some other commitments I’ve made recently I’m even finding it difficult to find the time to sit down and post. BUT, as I promised myself and as my About page states and serves as a reminder to me, I’m putting no pressure on myself when it comes to my blog. My blog will be waiting patiently for me to return. No pressure on you either, my friend…just keep doing what you’re doing the way you want and when you want to do it!
